Jill Hughes

Managing Director Specialist Business Unit

Jill has over 25 years experience, formerly with Unilever before moving on to PWC and then Brand Learning. In her 8 years at Unilever, Jill worked in a variety of brand and marketing management roles, working on key brands such as Flora, Delight and Birds Eye. In her last role at Unilever, Jill was responsible for Global Innovation in the Ice Cream category, a role that crystallized her passion for building capabilities in multifunctional teams.

Jill then became Principal Consultant in the Marketing and Customer Management group with PWC. During her 5 years with PWC, Jill worked with a variety of consumer goods and services businesses, such as Heineken, Nestle, Scottish Courage, Barclays, Lloyds TSB and Coutts, helping them deliver tangible results in consumer focused change programmes.

Jill has now worked with Brand Learning for over 15 years and has been part of the leadership team since the early days. She has built capabilities for growth with a range of FMCG, pharmaceutical and consumer services businesses including Unilever, Reckitt Benckiser, SAB Miller, Novartis, Pfizer, Roche, Barclays and Danone, leading the Brand Learning team in delivering high quality client work. Jill also led the early development of Brand Learning’s international business, developing client work in Europe, US and Asia, building the international consulting team and creating the business case for the set up of both our US and Asia offices.

Over the last 3 years, Jill has established and led the SBU, building expert practices in the key areas adjacent to Marketing –specifically Sales, Digital, Leadership and HR. She has built expert teams in each area, leading proposition development and significant business development and growth. Most recently, Jill led Brand Learning’s recent HR research, co-authoring a white paper, “The New HR Imperative: Leading for Growth”.

Outside of Brand Learning, Jill lives with her husband and 2 energetic daughters. Jill enjoys life as part of the local Henley-on-Thames community, particularly in eager participation of various music and theatre groups, for children and adults.
