Andy Bird

Co-Founder

Andy Bird is a leadership consultant who provides support, challenge and guidance for people looking to flourish and succeed as leaders. By working closely with them as a sounding board, he helps his senior clients think through responses to the various challenges they face in their business activities and relationships. More fundamentally, he works with them to craft a distinctive leadership approach based on their core personal values and strengths. His recent clients come from companies such as HSBC, M&S, Siemens and Shell. 

Andy combines a warm, engaging manner with extensive commercial knowledge and leadership experience. This blend enables him to support people with both the things they need to do in their roles, as well as the way they want to be as leaders. Andy also has deep experience in team facilitation and organisational change programmes, so his involvement frequently extends to helping leaders improve the dynamics within their teams and broader networks.

Andy is a Co-Founder of Brand Learning, a global specialist consultancy that helps leading companies build the capabilities required to drive customer-centred growth. As a leader himself, he has worked with his partner, Mhairi McEwan, to build Brand Learning into a team of over 170 people with offices in London, New York and Singapore. The company has a track record of sustained, profitable growth and has received many awards for its unique culture and high levels of employee engagement. Andy and Mhairi have also published a highly regarded book called The Growth Drivers explaining how businesses can go about sharpening competitive advantage by strengthening their strategic marketing capabilities. 

Before setting up Brand Learning in 2000, Andy spent 14 years working for Unilever in a variety of strategic marketing roles in the UK, Singapore and India. His last position as Vice-President for the Marketing Academy involved setting up and leading the group responsible for driving the development of marketing capabilities across Unilever’s global organisation. 

As a student, Andy was awarded a scholarship by Queen’s College, Oxford and graduated with a First in Politics, Philosophy and Economics and a Blue in football. More recently, he has also obtained an MSc in Coaching & Behaviour Change at Henley Business School.
