Joint Business Planning process development

The Challenge

Faced with the changing requirements of the retail environment, and the need to improve overall retailer perceptions of their business, our global client asked us to help them improve their Joint Business Planning process. Having just completed a merger, they needed to create a consistent approach to joint value creation and business planning and gain the support and engagement of all the key commercial functions behind this.

What we did

We worked with representatives of the key commercial functions to assess their needs and develop a best in class approach to commercial planning. We facilitated workshops with cross-functional representatives of the customer business teams to ensure the approach met the needs of all key functions. Drawing on the experience of our Sales specialists, we developed tools and guidance for each of the key steps in the new process, supported by an interactive playbook providing on-the-job support for the commercial team implementing the new process.

Results

The new process is enabling our client’s teams to improve their cross-functional customer engagement and ultimately to develop mutually beneficial joint business plans.
