Conversation #10 - Learn from the East

Bookmark and Share

The ‘emerging’ markets have emerged! In some cases they are leapfrogging ahead, or have a different take on brands and marketing that we can and should learn from.

China and India’s growth rates last quarter were 7% and 6% respectively. This level of growth means that hundreds of millions of potential customers increasingly have the means and aspirations to access goods and services previously out of reach.

Many skilled marketers are operating in an environment where businesses are prepared to invest, and are developing marketing approaches that businesses operating in the more constrained economic environments of the West may be unable to afford.

This is not new news, but the implication for marketers based in the West, used to ‘exporting’ marketing approaches, is that along with goods and services, the East will export back its own take on effective marketing.
